- The dresses have been chosen, so you can now start looking for your bridesmaids’ jewellery! As your bridesmaids’ dresses will influence the style of their jewellery, we don’t recommend buying the jewellery until the dresses are bought, plus you don’t want to spend unnecessarily on beautiful sets of jewellery which don’t suit the dresses.
- Set yourself a jewellery budget, allowing a 15% leeway over your budget just in case you find the perfect pieces which are a little over budget.
- Decide, are you going to involve your bridesmaids in the process of selecting their jewellery? You could ask them to help you find their jewellery or ask them to choose and buy their own jewellery. The latter option may lead to problems if your bridesmaids have different tastes and ideas to yourself. If you do go for this option, we recommend that you give your bridesmaids an idea as to the style you would like them to wear, e.g. pearls or plain silver. You may decide to present your bridesmaids with their jewellery as a thank you gift, which is a lovely idea.
- Check, do all of your bridesmaids have pierced ears or have any allergies to jewellery. Some girls can only wear silver or gold and you don't want your bridesmaids breaking out with an allergic reaction on your special day!
- Allow plenty of time to ensure you find the right pieces for the perfect finishing touch. Timescale permitting, we recommend that you allow at least a month of searching time. Remember that if the item needs to be tailored to suit your needs, this may take 3-4 weeks at busy times.
- Choosing the colour of your jewellery can be daunting. Don't think that you have to choose jewellery which matches the exact colour of your bridesmaids' dresses. Even with the colour matching service that we offer, it may be impossible to get a perfect match anyway. For a contemporary look, why not pick a colour which contrasts with the colour of their dresses. For example, if your dresses are dusky pink, green jewellery or a hot pink shade would look stunning. Or colour tone with your theme – for instance gold and cream coloured pearls would look sensational with chocolate brown dresses.
- Remember that one necklace may not suit or fit all. Your bridesmaids are individuals, and whilst one may have long hair which is being worn up, it may be more appropriate to find a beautiful pair of pearl drop earrings, or elaborate hair pins for that perfect finishing touch. You could still keep to the same theme – e.g pearls, but one bridesmaid could have a keepsake pearl pendant. Don't forget your teeny flower girls! If you are having any little flower girls you don't want them to feel left out when your grown-up bridesmaids are being given their jewellery. If your flower girl is too young for jewellery, then fairy wings and wands may be a good option. Or why not give them a beautiful hair band or some lovely hair grips.
- Brides often have three or more bridesmaids, and buying each of them a set of jewellery can be expensive. Why not present your bridesmaids jewellery as a thank you gift on the morning of the wedding. This lovely gesture will allow for some special moments with your bridesmaids and will also mean that you don't have to buy both their jewellery and a separate thank you gift. If you do decide to buy their jewellery as a gift but still want to give them something during the speeches, why not present them with a lovely keepsake thank you card which matches the theme of your wedding.
- Last, but by no means least, look for jewellery which is gift-wrapped and gift-boxed. Our jewellery comes beautifully presented in either Thai silk pouches or luxurious Thai silk boxes. This will be one less thing for you to do before your big day!
