Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue…

Are you a traditional girl who can't do anything without making sure all the i’s are dotted and the ‘t’s are crossed? Or are you more relaxed about your wedding day?

Keeping a few old traditions on your wedding day is a lovely way of making your day extra personal and special as well as celebrating the life long commitment that you are entering into with your loved one something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue which dates back to Victorian times. The something old relates to your family and your life before marriage. Perhaps you could raid Great Aunty Matilda’s bottom drawer for a nice brooch or lace hanky which you could wear subtly pinned to your under skirts! Or does big sis have anything you can half inch for the day?

Something new represents good health, fortune and success in your new life as a married lady.  Most brides use their wedding dress to fulfil this part of the old adage, but if your dress is vintage, then any part of your wedding trousseau which is new will fit the bill.  Something borrowed is something which has already been worn by a happy bride on her wedding day.  Perhaps your best friend has already been married, and could lend you her wedding bracelet or bridal tiara?

And as for the Something blue, this relates back biblical times, when blue was thought to represent fidelity and purity.  This meant wearing blue clothing, but more modern brides usually choose a discreet blue or white with blue trim bridal garter under their dress.

Now, whilst we can’t necessarily help with the something old or something borrowed, here at Girls Love Pearls, we have the something blue covered with our range of bridal garters in a range of styles from traditional designs to modern.  Or our jewellery can be adapted, with a discreet blue crystal or gemstone charm added to your wedding jewellery.

And of course, for the something new, you will be spoilt for choice with our stunning array of wedding jewellery, wedding hair accessories and finishing touches.

The organza flower bridal garter is a pretty little lace number with a shimmering organza flower and satin blue ribbon.  Or if you are looking for something a little more modern then the chiffon bridal garter and fluted lace bridal garter are the perfect wedding accessory.
