A bouquet of the best dresses - floral fantasy

Weddings and flowers were made for each other. But beautiful blooms are not just reserved for the bridal bouquet, they are an essential part of the signature detailing that many designers use on their gowns.

Huge cabbage roses in soft, see-through fabrics, some a mix of lace and organza, others of scrunched taffeta, dressed up with sparkling diamantes or pale, gleaming pearls or are set on long, trailing fabric stems that knot and bow toadd a further dimension of texture.

Flowers are used to highlight design features – pinned on the hip to emphasize clever ruching, used all over a skirt where sections are caught up to create volume and shape, mixed with leaves in vast and colourful sprays to become the most noticeable feature of a dress. Many gowns have detachable flowers, giving the bride a choice of when and where she shows off her ‘bouquet’, and she can continue wearing them long after the wedding celebrations are over, pinned to a favourite bag or outfit.

These dream dresses are endless in choice and a few designers who love featuring flowers include Alfred Sung, with dresses which feature silk duchess satin, sequined bodices and a posy of flowers over the skirt. Ellis Bridals also feature their flowers in a big way, with dresses adorned with taffeta and lace with crystals and roses at every gather of fabric on the skirt. Farage are well known for their beautifully designed corset topped dresses, and they have several which feature taffeta, and chantelle lace with trails of taffeta roses featured on the train of their dresses.

So, how do you choose your wedding jewellery and accessorise with a gown which is adorned with flowers?  You may not want to go too over the top, and would probably stay away from the strictly diamante designs.  You could consider a beautiful side style head band with a flower made from vintage styled tule and lace.  Some of these pieces also have necklaces which match, and could work in well with your dress if thefabrics match well enough – consider the colours and textures, and make sure that they don’t clash with your dress.

The Chic faux pearl and diamante range of bridal jewellery is a range chosen for their beautiful elegant designs and have the ability to accessorise with many wedding dresses. The faux pearls are a lustrous creamy colour and diamantes are sparkling cz crystals with settings finished off in a rhodium plating.

If the look you are after is understated elegance, then the classic collection of freshwater pearls with diamantes may be the ideal choice for you.  These are featured designs for every style and budget, from a beautiful classic freshwater pearl necklace to a sparkly cz crystal pendant with creamy freshwater pearl.  Each pearl necklace in this collection has a beautiful pair of pearl earrings to complete the set and is presented in a box or pouch.
